your prompt now runs on physics: data centers will burn over 1,000 twh in 2026, more than all of japan, and hyperscalers have committed $400b+ and 9.8 gw of nuclear deals, from microsoft restarting three mile island to meta’s 6.6 gw of smrs. one ai query can pull 10x the power of a google search.
the output is free, the electricity is not.
Context
The IEA's April 2026 analysis (Apr 16) says data centre electricity use surged in 2025; a write-up (ai2.work, Apr 21, 2026) says the IEA projects AI data centers will consume over 1,000 TWh by year-end, matching Japan's electricity use. Meta announced nuclear agreements unlocking up to 6.6 GW on Jan 9, 2026.
Axis Intelligence (Jul 14, 2026) puts committed nuclear capacity for data centers at 9.8 GW, and Nuclear News Network (Oct 1, 2026) says US hyperscalers have signed for about 8.5 GW of existing, restarted and uprated reactor output.
The 1,000 TWh comparison to Japan, Meta's 6.6 GW and the 9.8 GW of nuclear commitments match the sources, with the 1,000 TWh coming through a secondary write-up. The '10x the power of a google search' figure is contested: Projet Celsius (Jun 9, 2026) calls it an outdated calculation and a myth, another page says 10x with context, so it is not settled. The $400 billion hyperscaler commitment and the Three Mile Island restart were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
