The wetland is now mapping itself across borders

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the wetland is now mapping itself across borders: swamp-eye learns from annotated wetlands worldwide to watch extent change, a random forest reproduces global wetland history at 0.89 correlation, and calterra monitors restored peatlands with a new scottish grant.

the marsh now tracks its own recovery.

Context

A Scientific Reports paper from Feb 13, 2026 presents Swamp-AI, a deep learning model for monitoring wetland extent change across the globe, aimed at remote wetlands where remote sensing is often the only feasible method. New Gradient describes deep learning erosion mapping and digital MRV for Scottish peatland restoration with Caledonian Climate Partners.

That peatland page notes peatlands store about twice as much carbon as all the world's forests combined.

How it compares

The model appears in the sources as Swamp-AI, not 'swamp-eye'. The 0.89 correlation random forest and the Calterra grant were not seen in the excerpts read, so unsupported here, not refuted.

'the marsh now tracks its own recovery' is the author's opinion.
