The supercomputer is being cooled with hot water

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the supercomputer is being cooled with hot water: nvidia’s rubin platform runs coolant at 45 degrees celsius with zero fans, warm enough to skip mechanical chillers, and the announcement alone knocked hvac stocks. liquid cooling jumped from 3 percent of deployments in 2021 to 37 percent this year.

the chip got so hot that heat became the engineering problem.

Context

Data Center Dynamics reported on Jan 7, 2026 that NVIDIA's Vera Rubin promises cooling with water at 45 degrees C with no chillers necessary, and that the reveal triggered a drop in HVAC shares (Facilities Dive, Jan 9: Jensen Huang at CES).

AKCP (Jul 10, 2026) says liquid cooling has climbed toward 37 percent of deployments in 2026, up from roughly 3 percent in 2021.

How it compares

The 45 degrees C coolant, no chillers, the HVAC share drop and the liquid cooling share rise from 3 to about 37 percent match their sources. 'Zero fans' is not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. The 37 percent is from one trade source.
