The reef is now reporting its own bleaching

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the reef is now reporting its own bleaching: an explainable cnn called f-net reads bleached from healthy coral at 97.6 percent accuracy, hawaiian reefs are classified by their underwater sounds, and the maldives counts its corals with photogrammetry and ucl researchers.

the reef now speaks before it fades.

Context

F-Net is a hybrid explainable convolutional neural network for classifying bleached and healthy coral reefs, listed in 2026. A separate study uses structure-from-motion photogrammetry to track coral bleaching and mortality at fine scale during a marine heatwave, in Frontiers in Marine Science.

Another paper covers deep learning coral monitoring from UAV imagery.

How it compares

F-Net's bleached versus healthy classification and photogrammetry in coral studies match the sources. The 97.6 percent accuracy, the Hawaiian reef sound classification and the Maldives UCL project were not seen in the excerpts read, so unsupported here, not refuted.

'the reef now speaks before it fades' is the author's opinion.
