The network now fixes itself before you notice

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the network now fixes itself before you notice: softbank and ericsson ran japan’s first ai-native scheduler trial on a live 5g network, and a march proof of concept hit four times the throughput without extra power. nokia’s field engineers now query multi-vendor topology faults in plain language.

the radio tower learned to self-heal.

Context

SoftBank and Ericsson announced Japan's first validation of the AI-native Scheduler for Link Adaptation, part of Ericsson AI in RAN, on SoftBank's 5G commercial network on Aug 20, 2026. It reported gains of up to about 25 percent in spectral efficiency and up to about 50 percent in downlink user throughput, with about 10 percent improvement on average across locations.

Nokia's Ask EDA is described as a natural language interface for network operators (Tech Field Day, Nov 12, 2025).

How it compares

The Japan first and the AI-native scheduler on a live 5G network match SoftBank's and Ericsson's release. The four times throughput 'march proof of concept' was not seen: the release reports up to about 50 percent throughput gain and about 10 percent on average, so the figure is not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. Nokia's field engineers querying multi-vendor topology faults in plain language was also not confirmed; Ask EDA is documented for operators.
