The law firm is being re-architected by agents

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the law firm is being re-architected by agents: harvey hit an $11 billion valuation serving 100,000 lawyers across 1,300 firms, and kirkland & ellis is spending $500 million with 180 technologists to build its own ai. aba surveys say 30% of lawyers now use ai tools, nearly triple last year.

the billable hour is the last analog thing left in the firm.

Context

Harvey raised $200 million at an $11 billion valuation (Forbes, Feb 9, 2026, on talks; Implicator, Mar 25, 2026, on the close), and AI for Automation (Mar 26, 2026) says it is used by 100,000 or more lawyers across 1,300 organizations in 60 countries.

Reuters (May 28, 2026) reports Kirkland & Ellis is devoting $500 million of its revenue to developing a custom AI platform, and Bloomberg Law (Jun 15, 2026) describes the scale of its technology team.

How it compares

The $11 billion valuation, 100,000 lawyers, 1,300 organizations and Kirkland's $500 million match the sources. The post says 1,300 firms; the source says organizations. The 180 technologists and the ABA survey figure of 30 percent of lawyers using AI tools were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.
