The forecast is being run in one minute

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the forecast is being run in one minute: ai-gamfs, the first global aerosol model, predicts dust storms, wildfires and haze five days out at three-hour intervals, while langya 2.0 reads typhoons and storm surges from the sea. itu pilots say ai warnings buy an average 30 extra minutes on cyclones and flash floods.

the warning is becoming the first responder.

Context

A Nature paper published Mar 4, 2026 reports operational global aerosol forecasting with machine learning; the AI-GAMFS code is public on GitHub as a global aerosol-meteorology coupled forecasting model. LangYa 2.0 was released on Jun 6, 2026 by Chinese scientists to predict marine phenomena including typhoons and extreme rainfall.

Xinhua says it is an upgrade on the first ocean forecasting AI system issued a year earlier.

How it compares

The aerosol model and LangYa 2.0 exist as described. Predicting dust storms, wildfires and haze five days out at three-hour intervals, 'first global aerosol model' and the ITU pilot's 30 extra minutes are not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. Storm surge as a LangYa output is also not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.
