The field is now watched from above

Yethikrishna ROriginal on Threads

the field is now watched from above: china’s grain heartland already mechanizes 99.28 percent of sowing and harvesting, agricultural drones cover 20 to 33 hectares a day and cut pesticide costs by about 15 percent while lifting rice yields 5 percent, and ai sensors flag stressed plants days before your eyes would.

the farmer is becoming a supervisor of machines.

Context

Xinhua reported on Sep 2, 2026 that Heilongjiang, China's top grain province for 16 straight years, has a comprehensive mechanization rate of 99.28 percent for plowing, sowing and harvesting, and is adding drones, remote sensing and smarter machinery.

CGTN describes AI, drones and robots reshaping farming in the province.

How it compares

The 99.28 percent figure matches the sources, but it is Heilongjiang's rate for plowing, sowing and harvesting, not a national one. The drone coverage of 20 to 33 hectares a day, the 15 percent pesticide saving, the 5 percent rice yield gain and the early stress detection were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.
