The ear is becoming a listening model
the ear is becoming a listening model: oticon’s reveal runs the first dual ai system in a hearing aid, resound’s vivia pro packs a network trained on 13.5 million real speech samples, and the chip inside now does trillions of operations a day. hearing aids stopped amplifying everything and started choosing.
the cocktail party is being solved in the ear.
Context
Oticon's professional page calls Oticon Reveal the world's first hearing aid powered by a Dual AI system. ReSound's Vivia combines its 360 Chip with a Deep Neural Network chip that acts as a filter, creating greater contrast between noise and speech.
GN introduced Vivia on Feb 4, 2025 with an Intelligent Focus feature built to mimic the brain's natural sound processing.
Oticon Reveal's Dual AI and Vivia's DNN chip match the manufacturer pages. The 13.5 million speech sample figure and the 'trillions of operations a day' line are not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. 'First' is Oticon's own claim. The cocktail party remark is the author's.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
