The docs now have two readers
the docs now have two readers: mintlify’s own analytics show nearly half of developer documentation traffic is ai agents pulling pages programmatically, and swimm flags docs that drifted from the code at pull-request time while unblocked saves teams 60 to 70 hours a week answering from source. writing docs for humans is no longer enough.
the other reader never skims.
Context
Mintlify said on Feb 17, 2026 that almost half of documentation site traffic is now AI agents, which look for an answer and leave. Its State of Knowledge report 2026 analyses server-side traffic from Mintlify-hosted docs sites from Feb 1 through Aug 31, 2026.
Mintlify's data page reports agent and human traffic across the sites it powers.
The nearly half of docs traffic from AI agents matches Mintlify's own analytics, which cover Mintlify-hosted sites only. Swimm flagging drifted docs at pull request time and Unblocked saving 60 to 70 hours a week were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
