The dentist’s x-ray now reads itself
the dentist’s x-ray now reads itself: pearl’s ai checks six conditions on a bitewing in seconds at auc 0.95 across four thousand us practices, and dentsply sirona’s smart view detect raised periapical detection by 46 percent. one chinese hospital cut cephalometric analysis from ten minutes to ten seconds.
the cavity is the easiest part of the visit now.
Context
Pearl says its Second Opinion is validated by an independent third party to be 94 percent accurate in detecting dental disease. Dentsply Sirona launched Smart View - Detect in 2026, described as the first FDA-cleared AI diagnostic aid for periapical radiolucencies in CBCTs.
A 2025 study in Diagnostics (MDPI) assessed the diagnostic accuracy of AI software for periodontal and restorative findings, and a Nov 2025 paper compared AI and manual cephalometric analysis for accuracy and speed.
Pearl's AI imaging and Dentsply Sirona's periapical detection tool match their sources. The six conditions, AUC 0.95, four thousand practices, the 46 percent uplift and the ten-minutes-to-ten-seconds hospital claim are not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. Pearl's own page says 94 percent accuracy, not AUC.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
