The coast is now being replanted from the air
the coast is now being replanted from the air: ai drones dropped seed pods to restore 200 hectares of east java mangroves, autonomous systems plant up to 40,000 seed pods a day per drone against 800 by hand, and a swiss startup 3d prints the drones that scatter them.
the tide now returns to a forest it never planted.
Context
Inovarian reports that EcoShore's seeding drones are restoring 200 hectares of mangrove coast in East Java, with up to 10,000 seedlings dropped per hour, an 85 percent survival rate, and abrasion down by up to 40 percent. A second Inovarian piece says about 1 million seedlings were planted in a year.
Earlier work by WeRobotics and Panama Flying Labs piloted drone seeding for mangrove restoration in Panama.
The 200 hectares and the East Java site match the sources. The per-drone figure of 40,000 pods a day, the 800 by hand and the Swiss 3D-printing startup were not seen in the excerpts read, so unsupported here, not refuted. Inovarian's rate is 10,000 a hour for EcoShore.
'The tide now returns to a forest it never planted' is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
