the battlefield just started running on algorithms trained for swarms. the army's xviii airborne corps tested ai and electronic warfare against up to 100 attacking drones at fort bragg on september 22, while thales launched hexaforce, an ai command system that fuses land, sea, air, space and cyber data for nato, on september 17.
the enemy that counts is now measured in drones per minute.
Context
Verified source: Defense Daily (Sep 17, 2026) reports the XVIII Airborne Corps tested sensors, software and command and control against drone swarms at Scarlet Dragon 26-3 at Fort Bragg. Battle Policy (Sep 24) says swarms of up to 100 drones were run against the Corps' own air defenses.
Verified source: Thales launched HexaForce, an AI-enabled command and control system, on Sep 17, 2026 (Defence Nordic, Airforce Technology), after testing it at NATO's CWIX 2026 exercise in Poland. It is designed for operations across land, sea, air, cyber and space.
The 100-drone swarm at Fort Bragg and the Sep 17 HexaForce launch match the sources. The post dates the Fort Bragg test to Sep 22, but the Defense Daily report on the event is dated Sep 17, so Sep 22 is not supported here. 'Drones per minute' as the measure is the author's framing. Anything else in the post was not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
