nvidia confirmed rtx spark machines ship worldwide in october, six oems, with an arm grace cpu and a blackwell gpu whose integrated graphics matches a laptop rtx 5070. early benchmarks already suggest it trails apple’s m5 pro.
the first real fight for the local-ai laptop is starting.
Context
Verified date: Tom's Hardware (Oct 7, 2026) says NVIDIA RTX Spark devices start shipping on Friday, Oct 16, with pre-orders live from brands including Asus, Microsoft, Lenovo, HP and Dell, starting at $2,599. NVIDIA's own Oct 7 blog says RTX Spark preorders open that day.
NVIDIA's product page lists up to a 6,144-core Blackwell RTX GPU, up to a 20-core Grace CPU, up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance and up to 128 GB of unified memory.
The post says machines ship in October with a Grace CPU and a Blackwell GPU, which matches NVIDIA; the ship date in the sources is Oct 16. The six OEMs and the match to a laptop RTX 5070 were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. in the excerpts read. On Apple, early comparisons from June (Digital Citizen, HotHardware, Trusted Reviews) are mixed: one Clang compile benchmark shows the Grace CPU beating the standard M5, and Trusted Reviews had not tested the chip. The claim that it trails the M5 Pro was not confirmed. 'The first real fight for the local-ai laptop' is the author's opinion.
