humanoid robots just stopped being a demo business. 1x signed with eqt to deploy up to 10,000 neos across 300+ portfolio companies by 2030, xpeng raised $900m for its iron at a $6.3b valuation, and apptronik took $520m at roughly $5b — all chasing factory floors, not youtube.
the money finally smells deployment.
Context
Verified dates: Business Wire and Bloomberg report the 1X and EQT partnership on Dec 11, 2025, for up to 10,000 humanoid robots across EQT's portfolio companies. The XPeng announcement on FT.com is dated Aug 24, 2026 and says its robotics business raised over US$900 million at a post-money valuation of over US$6.3 billion.
CNET (Dec 13, 2025) notes the same 1X deal alongside the $20,000 Neo price.
The up to 10,000 units and the XPeng $900 million at over $6.3 billion match the sources, but the 1X deal is from Dec 2025, not recent, and XPeng's raise is from Aug 24, 2026. The 300-plus portfolio companies, the 2030 target and Apptronik's $520 million at roughly $5 billion were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. 'The money finally smells deployment' is the author's opinion.
