gartner’s 2026 hype cycle moved ai soc agents a full phase in twelve months, from innovation trigger straight to peak of inflated expectations, while only 10% of socs say they get excellent value from ai today. the agentic soc market is still projected to grow from $520 million in 2025 to $5.4 billion by 2032.

Context
Simbian (Jun 22, 2026) says AI SOC agents jumped from Innovation Trigger to the Peak of Inflated Expectations in Gartner's 2026 Hype Cycle for Security Operations, a full phase in twelve months, and that the report warns four times about AI washing. Dropzone (Jun 16, 2026) also covers that Hype Cycle.
MarketsandMarkets estimates the agentic AI SOC market at USD 520 million in 2025, rising to USD 5,450 million by 2032, a 40% CAGR.
The phase jump matches Simbian's reading of the Gartner report. The market figures match MarketsandMarkets, which gives USD 5,450 million, so $5.4 billion is a rounding down. That only 10% of SOCs report excellent value was not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. Another market report, QYResearch, sizes a differently defined agentic SOC transformation market far smaller, so the figures depend on the definition. 'The security industry is pricing in the cure before it has finished diagnosing the disease' is the author's opinion.
